Aramac, a regional town in Central West Queensland, may just be the most ‘snake smart’ town in the state after a massive effort from the Aramac Local Ambulance Committee (LAC) to educate their community.

Along with the assistance of the Barcaldine Shire Council, Australia Post and Survival Emergency Solutions, the Aramac LAC has been busy delivering a snake bite education package which involved SMART pressure immobilisation bandages and snake bite first-aid information being supplied free of charge to local businesses and around 60 properties surrounding Aramac.

To assist with the rollout, Aramac paramedic Gary held a demonstration at Aramac State School where the students were shown how to apply the compression bandages which can be now found all around the town.
